Evil XAML: Microsoft's next attempt to "own" the Internet...

Microsoft must've kicked itself for ignoring the rise of the Internet and WWW in the early 90s. Since then it has used its clout to crush Netscape and make IE the dominant browser (fortunately it is slipping thanks to better alternatives).

This article by a .NET expert, amongst other things, suggests that Microsoft is intending to force internet users to upgrade to Longhorn by killing ASP and pushing XAML. Why..? Because "...with a technology like XAML Microsoft gets to control the client. So in addition to the server and the development tools, the client must have Avalon. That could be a huge revenue generator for Microsoft".

So much for their "commitment to interoperability"...
